Good afternoon. Three years ago,...

  • Dye transfer from blue jeans on sofa cushions cannot be removed.
  • Store says the only option is new cushion covers, seeking help with cost.

Good afternoon.

Three years ago, approximately I purchased a sofa and love seat from the Colemans store in Stephenville Newfoundland.

While sitting on the chair cushions over time dye transfer has occurred from anyone wearing blue jeans to the cushion covers.

The beautiful chesterfield and love seat looks horrible because of the cushion dye transfer.

We have tried numerous ways to remove the dye transfer but to no avail.

We contacted the store Manager but were told the only option is to purchase new cushion covers. This does not guarantee the same problem will not happen again unless any visitors do not wear blue jeans or we cover the cushions if anyone is visiting .WE plan to extensively scotch guard to prevent a reoccurrence.

WE are on a fixed income and could use customer service help in lowering the cost of new cushion covers and shipping.

I have attached a copy of the serial number of the units in question. Both units take the same cushion covers.

Thank you

Only buy from this company if you want to be SCAMMED. Wow, where do i even start This entire situation is ridiculous!

I recently purchased on sale a king size bed frame, 1 large dresser, and two small bed side tables for my daughter for christmas. Everything started off great good price &quick delivery! As a single mother of two who works full time in a mental health hospital, its hard to get time off last minute, especially around the holidays! My mother (76) agreed to wait for the delivery drivers the day it was delivered.

Everything looked fine when it was delivered so my mother signed for it, not knowing how much of an issue this would have caused down the road. The next day, my daughter and i were about to rearrange her bed room layout when we noticed the back of her bed side table was smashed, it was angled up against the wall perfectly so you wouldnt be able to see it unless you moved it! We had called to let them know it looks like our product was damaged during delivery, but they were quick to reply back with well you signed for it already so theres nothing we can do about it and basically accused my 76-year-old mother of breaking it. saying she KICKED it in.

Im sorry. Shes 76 and the wind could knock her over. Unprofessional, but whatever its the back of the tablewe let it go. Nobodys going to see the back.

Later that night, my daughter was getting ready for bed and went to lay down and heard a concerning crack, which is kind of alarming seeing how this set is weeks old and i spent over 1,000+ on it! I had my ex husband come over to check out the bed to see if it was set up right & what was wrong and to our surprise there were loose screws under the bed frame, missing pieces, pieces put on the wrong way, etc. I had called back and let them know i will be canceling the payement plan until somebody can either take this POS out of my house or come set it up properly the way it is intended to be. They told me because it was signed for, there was NOTHING they can do.they then threatened to LAWYER UP on me, because i canceled my payment on a broken bed and dresser.

Moral of the story do NOT purchase anything from here, It seems like im not the only person who has a similar experience with this company! My coworker was delivered a broken table! He tried for months to get in contact with a supervisor, they never got back to him and they wouldnt refund him. i will only ever purchase from pottery barn or bobs from now on, Ive only ever had great experiences with them.

The sale prices are equal to the quality of the product. This company took advantage of my 76 year old mother and thought they can half *** the job because she was old! Beware.

SCAM ALERT: Breach of Contract, Bait and Switch, Fraudulent Business Practices, Violation of State & Federal Consumer Antitrust/Deceptive Practices and Protection Laws, and Federal Lemon Law

  • Apr 2, 2025: bought Man Den recliner with 5-year warranty.
  • Apr 30 delivery; May 4 damages: charger overheats, recall flag, bonded leather peeling.
Updated by user Nov 13, 2025

Learned from my mistake: Coleman Furniture or Ashley Furniture. They sent me broken furniture, and then they blamed it on me.

I reported the problem w/in 4 days, but they refused Xchange/return. They offered a repair, but you have to sign a form agreeing that you will find and pay for the technician, and they have no accountability, 6 mos.

have passed, they didn't send the materials needed for the repair.Protect your mental health. Stay away from this tactics, in my opinion this is a scam.

Original review Oct 29, 2025

I purchased Ashley Furniture Online from Coleman Furniture. Which is owned by Renegade Furniture Group, Home Gallery Stores, Furniture ETC and TOV Furniture.

I am writing to you directly regarding a severely unsatisfactory experience with my recent purchase, Order # 637****.

-On April 2, 2025, I purchased the "Man Den" power recliner sofa and loveseat by Ashley Furniture, including the 5-year extended warranty, not covered by the Manufacturers Poor Quality Junk.

-April 30, 2025 the items were delivered.

-May 4, 2025, I reported significant manufacturers damages and defects, specifically:

+The recliner's wireless charger is overheating and charging slowly.

+Note: Ashley Furniture had a major recall for units catching fireso this is a major red flag.

+I discovered cuts on a leather and a sharp metal component inside the couch almost poking out.

+The leather is peeling off. This wasnt even real leather as you advertised. This is Bonded Leather.

-May 5, 2025, the warranty process was initiated. I was advised by your customer representative to call and pay a technician $125.00 for an initial allocation, with the promise of reimbursement.

The technician subsequently informed me that he is unable to provide a quote or repair until all the necessary materials are on hand. This repair process has now 7 months, and I still do not have all the materials.

***Important Note*** Coleman Furniture continues to refuse to repair my furniture. You refuse to replace and refuse to do anything to honor our Sales Agreement and our warranty. This is Fraudulent Business Practices and this is a Malicious Act.

You sell me on a Warranty Service that is meant to cover the furniture for 1 year, included in the purchase. You take my money yet refuse to honor your Warranty. Coleman Furniture Failed our Sales Contract and you Failed Me! Coleman Furniture Failed our Sales Contract!

Coleman Furniture blames others for their failure, in an effort to Victimize Me. Instead of filing a Claim or Lawsuit for a Breach of Contract against Todd Waneks Ashley Furniture Industries/Ashley Global Retail, Coleman Furniture decided to Victimize Consumer, like Me!

I am asking all State and Federal Consumer Protection Agencies to fully Investigate TOV Furniture/Renegade Furniture/Coleman Furniture and Ashley Furniture. I urge a cross agency involvement from all State and Federal Agencies to do a Full Investigation. Bring in the Forensic Accountants, review all Sales Contracts and investigate not just all complaints filed against Renegade, Coleman or TOV, but to bring in the evidence from the Tens of Thousands of Complaints about Ashley Furniture and their Homestores Franchises.

This is a direct correlation with the Fraud and Scam Ashley Furniture and their Retailers performs and since I bought Ashley Furniture Brand, I am a victim of Coleman Furniture and Ashley Furniture. After all Coleman doesnt want to look like the bad guy, so they blame Ashley Furniture for this scam of not honoring the warranty for my furniture and Ashley Furniture blames Coleman Furniture.

Avoid these 2 companies www.ashleyfurniture.com and www.colemanfurniture.com

  • Bed was assembled without checking defect, causing misalignment and a fall.

Unfortunately, they put a bed together without looking at the manufacturers defect initially which allowed me to question their experience level so the item did not lay correctly and my daughter fell to the ground after 17 months. I purchased the protection that did not fix it because it was not an event, the manufacturer COASTER did not care and Coleman said, we just sell it!

So I paid a repairmen $360 to repair it and it was a $500 bed!!! I will never buy from them and will stick to ASHLEY direct for safety!

Price Match isn’t legitimate

I spoke with a representative regarding the bed I was ordering and during the conversation I was told if your product is on sale on Black Friday I would receive a refund on the difference. I shared I could wait to purchase on Black Friday, but she convinced me it didn't matter and that I would receive the difference.

Now I'm told I want to receive refund because I called after black on 12/2 and because my order shipped with my first notification it shipped 11/18 from the manufacturer so it had already disqualified me since the bed shipped before Black Friday. Very misleading

Damaged Ny New Remodel Twice, Sent Defective Furniture Twice, They Won't Take Back the Defective Furniture

AI Highlights
  • Delivered with missing handles, cracked and non-closable drawers, damaging my home.
  • Desk cannot be repaired; replacement needed; warranty unclear.
Contains 1 confidential file for company representatives

On September 3rd, 2024, I purchased the Angeline King Complete bedroom set. The furniture came in missing handles, cracked drawers, and non-closable drawers, and my house was banged into and marked.

It took me reaching out no less than eight times by email and three times by calling and disputing the charge before Coleman would even help me.

The day before I had the defective bedroom set delivered, I ordered an office set with Coleman. I tried to cancel the order but Coleman would not let me. They wrote in three emails that the office set would be thoroughly inspected many times before it was delivered and would not be delivered with any imperfections. The furniture was never inspected and it came defective, which I only noticed after Coleman again considerably damaged my newly remodeled home.

Coleman works by intimidation and screws the customer every chance they get.

When you make a purchase, a several-page document with tiny writing appears, which you have to agree to, no one will spend hours trying to decipher the tiny writing or scroll through the pages for the length of time it takes to get through it. That is their legal contract. The box only appears at check out, you do not get a copy, they refuse to send me a copy of the contract, and they make up ridiculous rules, so they have indemnity no matter what.

Do yourself a favor, and do not purchase anything through Coleman. On 11/21/24 (two months after the first incident with Coleman), when I told Rachel from customer service that I was going to write an honest review, I was told it seemed like [I] was threatening Coleman and that I would need to work everything out with customer service (her) directly.

It has been two months and I am still fighting with Coleman customer service to remedy the issue. The desk cannot be repaired. Two furniture restoration experts later (not through Coleman) and the desk is still all screwed up. I took a reduction in price for the bed. The desk is unfixable, according to two expert furniture restorers.

The desk needs to be replaced with a new one.

Coleman needs to replace the desk. I was never told that a warranty was an option and Coleman preys on the customers vulnerability.

Terrible Customer Service and Warranty Denial for a Defective Ashley Sectional

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Cushion sagged within a month.
  • Coleman ignored the claim; Ashley confirmed a defect.
  • Foam insert offered only with $97.85 shipping.

In August 2024, I purchased an Ashley sectional from Coleman Furniture. Within just a month of delivery, the chaise cushion began sagging significantly on one side, creating a visible, uneven divot.

It became uncomfortable and unsightly. I reached out to Coleman Furniture around a month after delivery to report the issue well within the one-year manufacturer warranty and received no response at all.

When I later followed up, Coleman claimed the manufacturer had denied my claim because the issue was normal wear and tear, not a defect. No one from Coleman or the manufacturer ever inspected the sofa in person. They based their entire denial on a few photos submitted long after my original outreach an outreach they had ignored.

Frustrated, I contacted Ashley Furniture directly, and their response couldnt have been clearer.

Ashley acknowledged the issue was indeed a defect and sent me a replacement cushion cover free of charge under the warranty. This directly contradicts Colemans claim that the issue was not covered, and shows that my original complaint was valid.

I then asked Coleman to provide the foam insert necessary to complete the repair. They agreed to send it, but only if I paid $97.85 in shipping, effectively punishing me for their earlier failure to handle the claim properly.

The situation only deteriorated further when I spoke with Colemans case manager by phone. I was told, without irony, that cushions might only last a year and that proper care includes not sitting on the couch for too long or jumping on it.

In other words, I was blamed for using my couch like a couch. When I asked how I could prove that I followed their vague and unspoken care instructions, they had no answer. When I asked if customers should expect to repurchase a new cushion every year, they replied, Possibly.

When I explained again that I had contacted them within the first month of delivery, I was accused of lying. I then offered to provide screenshots of my phone records and emails showing those early attempts to contact them, and was told not to bother that my evidence wouldnt help and that no better resolution would be offered, regardless of what I proved.

They made it clear they were not interested in the truth only in shutting the case down.

I also requested to escalate to a supervisor and was told that the case manager was the final authority. I asked to speak with someone from the manufacturer who had supposedly reviewed my claim and was told I wasnt allowed to. So not only was I blocked from verifying the warranty denial, I was also blocked from escalating it.

Finally, when I asked if Coleman stood behind the products they sell, I was told, Were just the middleman.

This company takes your money, ships the furniture, and refuses to support it in any way once its in your home even when a clear defect is reported early, acknowledged by the manufacturer, and proven with documented communication.

Colemans conduct has been absurd and shameful. They ignored my timely complaint, misrepresented the manufacturers position, refused to review clear evidence, gaslit me on the phone, blamed me for sitting on the couch, and then had the nerve to demand I pay for shipping to fix a defect that was never my fault.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. DO NOT TRUST this company.

They do not care about you or your money. They were supposed to hold an item for me and not charge me until I knew my measurements in my new home. Someone was supposed to call me back 24 hours later to follow up and instead I called to follow up myself and let them know the couch was too big and not going to fit so I needed to make modifications before ordering it. I find out 48 hours later they charged me card for the entire amount!

When I spoke to management she had an attitude and offered me nothing other than cancelling it for a $480 cancellation fee and said I could re order it! They will not work with you nor admit there mistakes. She said she had no phone record on file well of course not because they wont take ownership or accountability for there screw up! They have zero empathy towards there customers and wouldnt even work with me and keep in mind only 48 hours have gone by.

They do not honor their warranty

AI Highlights
  • Warranty not honored; Coleman blamed the maker.
  • Coleman offered $125 credit for independent repair.
  • No refund was issued after submitting receipt.

This place sucks! They don't honor their warranty and blame it on the manufacturer with their cheap *** broken down furniture.

Three months after purchasing a three seat reclining sofa...FROM COLEMAN FURNITURE AND NOT DIRECTLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER, parts from the left seat started failing to the floor causing the seat to sag. When I contacted COLEMAN FURNITURE with pictures and videos, their response was...the manufacturer said it was NORMAL operation. Give me a break! What's normal about parts falling out of the sofa.

The when I pushed back, COLEMAN FURNITURE said that the manufacturer will give up to a $125 credit towards having an independent furniture repair professional inspect and repair the item. They made the recommendation to a company they have used in the past so I went with it. The technician showed up, inspected the sofa and reinstalled the spring clamps that fell out. Then that company proceeded to charge me extra for 10 mins of work which I disputed but that's another story.

When I submitted the $125 receipt and technician's report to COLEMAN FURNITURE, they said that the manufacturer wants this and this and that on the technician report including the amount paid like if the receipt from the company was not good enough. Unreasonable ask! I cannot dictate to a company that I do not work at or own when to put on their report. I asked anyway and I also asked COLEMAN FURNITURE to try as well.

Few weeks later, no updated technician report and still no refund. I purchased this sofa from COLEMAN FURNITURE and not directly from the manufacturer so they are responsible for ensuring that I am reimbursed as originally agreed on by COLEMAN FURNITURE. What a bunch of incompetent losers with no common sense to know that I cannot ask for customized reports from other companies.

Firstly, honor the warranty you claim to provide after someone purchases an item from COLEMAN FURNITURE. Secondly, don't ask me for anything other than what was provided to me by the repair company.

I ordered a chest of drawers from Coleman Furniture. this was my first and last experience with this Company.

The item was about $100 less than Wayfair. I always shop Wayfair and have excellent service. When the item arrived from Coleman it was damaged and they refused to adjust the price or provide a repair kit for the furniture. The manufacturer said that the finish is "distressed" and should have the paint knocked off it.

I have the matching nightstands and they do not have this type of damage - paint scraped off to the wood due to the packing rubbing on the item. Beware!!!
